HUNFRAIDH—VIII—Humfrey, Humphrey; 'son of Hunfrid' (a Teutonic personal name, long corrupted to Humfrid and Humphrey). This surname came into Ireland soon after the Anglo-Norman invasion. There is a Humphreystown in Co. Wicklow. Also Unfraidh, which see.
