de BREANNÓC—XIde Brechnok, de Braynok, Brennock, Brannock, Brannick, etc.; i.e., 'of Brechnock' in Wales. Families of this name settled in Ireland at the time of the Anglo-Norman invasion, and in the 16th century were most numerous in Tipperary, Kilkenny and Waterford. Not to be confounded with Breathnach, which see.
