CORBAID—VIII—Corbett; 'son of Corbet' (diminutive of French corbeau, a raven, a personal name in Domesday Book). The Corbetts, who are a family of Norman origin, settled in Meath and Offaly, but the name has always been very rare. Nearly all our Corbetts are of Irish origin. See Ó Corbáin, Ó Coirbín and Ó Conbágha.
