In this online version of Walter Strickland's seminal work on Irish artists the additions and corrections that were listed separately in the book have been incorporated into their appropriate entries. The illustrations from the plates in the original book have also been placed in the appropriate online pages so that, for example, the images of James Barry will appear in the entry for that artist. It was thought unnecessary to reproduce the extensive index in the physical book as the online version has full search functionality.
From a sad, comfortless childhood Giles Truelove developed into a reclusive and uncommunicative man whose sole passion was books. For so long they were the only meaning to his existence. But when fate eventually intervened to have the outside world intrude upon his life, he began to discover emotions that he never knew he had.
A touching story for the genuine booklover, written by an Irish bookseller under the pseudonym of Ralph St John Featherstonehaugh.
