The Cluricaune, or Leprechaune, is a mischievous old fellow, dressing in a green coat, but without brogues:—

"That sottish elf,
Who quaffs with swollen lips the ruby wine,
Draining the cellar with as free a hand
As if it were his purse which ne'er lack'd coin."
