Lindsay—This name is the anglicised form of about three sept names. First, it has been assumed by some of the Co. Down sept Linchy (O'Loingsigh), secondly by a McDonald sept, Mac Loingsigh, in Argyle, and thirdly by M'Clintock (Mac Giolla-Fhiontóg), and also said to be assumed along with Lynd, the anglicised form of O'Floinn in Antrim.
