Hood—This name in Scotland is of early Celtic origin, I believe from the Pictish nation and later Gaelicised, as it was written early Hwde. In the Isle of Man it is now written Cudd, earlier Mac Hud, its corrected Gaelic form We find it in Ulster written Mahood.
